The court of Islamabad has approved another three-day physical remand of Shahnawaz Amir, the main accused in the murder case of Canadian-born Pakistani citizen Sara Inam. While the interim bail of his mother Samina Shah has been extended.
During the hearing in the court of Senior Civil Judge Amir Aziz on Monday, the main accused Shahnawaz Amir was presented by the police in the court. And the investigating officer informed the court requesting the physical remand of the accused for another three days. That the police have yet to recover the deceased’s passport. Which is an important document and with the help of this their travel details will be known.
On September 23, Sara Inam was killed in Chak Shahzad area of Islamabad. And her husband Shahnawaz Ameer was arrested for this murder. Shahnawaz’s father and senior journalist Ayaz Amir was also detained later. However, they were later released due to lack of evidence.
During the hearing held on Monday, the lawyer on behalf of Sara Inam’s family also appeared in the court. And expressed their concern that Sara has been killed in Shahnawaz’s house in Islamabad. If the victim’s passport has not been recovered after 14 days, this process can be helpful in saving the accused from punishment.
The court remarked on the occasion that the case should not be spoiled due to lack of investigation or negligence. After a short hearing, the court accepted the request of the police and handed over the accused Shahnawaz to the police on physical remand for another three days.
