A study published in the Journal of Nutrition found that patients with type 2 diabetes and high blood sugar who ate just one apple a day or consumed an additional amount of other fruits or vegetables lost their body weight, while losing weight. Cholesterol is also reduced.

“We know that a balanced diet is the key to good health, but very few people eat adequate amounts of fruits and vegetables,” said researchers from Australia’s George Institute.

For this study, 50 type 2 diabetes patients were recruited and given a healthy diet for 12 weeks.

At 12 weeks, these subjects had significant improvements in diet, blood cholesterol and body weight.

The researchers said that the results prove that consuming a good diet improves the health of diabetic patients.

He said that the research will now be conducted on a larger scale to confirm the health benefits.
