Former Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif Performs Umrah with family under tight security

Former Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who has been in self-imposed exile in London since November 2019 for medical reasons, recently performed Umrah with his family members under tight security. The pilgrimage was reportedly offered by Sharif’s family with special guards providing protection during the Tawaaf of Holy Ka’aba.

The Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Senior Vice President and Chief Organizer Maryam Nawaz, her husband Captain (R) Safdar Awan, and other family members also performed the pilgrimage together. The Sharif family expressed their gratitude to Allah Almighty for reaching Makkah to perform Umrah.

After completing Umrah, Nawaz Sharif prayed for the development of the country, while Maryam expressed her happiness and devotion. Earlier this month, sources claimed that Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud invited Nawaz and his brother, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, to the kingdom to perform Umrah as a gesture of goodwill.

The Sharif family arrived in Saudi Arabia on April 11, and Nawaz is visiting the holy land after six years. According to sources, Nawaz Sharif initially planned to stay in the Kingdom until April 26, but his son, Hussain Nawaz, and his family requested him to prolong his stay in Jeddah at his residence.
