In a recent development, two separate cases have been registered against Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and party leader Ali Amin Gandapur. The cases were filed in the federal capital and have raised a few eyebrows in political circles.

The first case was registered at the Ramna police station against the former prime minister Imran Khan. The case was filed under sections 138, 500, and 505 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC). According to the FIR, Imran Khan made several allegations against a senior officer of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and did his character assassination in a speech from Zaman Park Lahore on March 19, 2023. He also made allegations against the senior officer in his speeches on November 11 and 4, 2022, and October 29, 2022. Furthermore, in his speech on October 28, 2022, he used offensive language against the army and ISI chief and senior officer and threatened their family members. The FIR added that the former prime minister damaged the reputation of the army with his baseless allegations.

The FIR further revealed that Imran Khan’s purpose behind these speeches was to create mutiny, and he was also using social media in this regard. The foreign agencies took advantage of this opportunity and tried to create a rift between the armed forces and the people of Pakistan. This move by Imran Khan has raised concerns in political circles and is being viewed as an attempt to damage the country’s reputation.
👨⚖️ Ali Amin Gandapur’s Case
In another case registered at the Golra police station, Ali Amin Gandapur, and another person, Asad Khan, were booked. The case was filed under section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) along with several other sections of PPC and the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) ordinance. According to the FIR, audio was aired on a private news channel in which the two persons talked about weapons. Besides, Mr. Gandapur threatened the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) and said his supporters would take over Islamabad. He also threatened the police in the message.
